Well, asinan is one of local dish can be found in Jakarta, Tangerang, Bogor and Bekasi. It’s derived from the word asin or salty where it consists of salted solution soaked vegetables or fruits. This is one of my favourite treat for culinary adventures. I found one of the delicious asinan in Pasar Lama Tangerang last week, when I was walking around for some adventures. This asinan is famous and it uses vegetables such as cucumber, carrot, cabbage, bean sprouts, szechuan leek (called Bawang Batak), yellow tofu and yellow noodles cracker. All are covered with savoury-sweet-sour peanut sauce and some sambal. It’s so tasty and refreshing especially during hot season. There are two types of asinan and I love them all.
Special for this week’s challenge…and greetings from Obama’s classmates land.
