Weekly Photo Challenge : (YUMMY) HABIT?

For this week’s challenge..

One of my hobbies is cooking. In many ocassions, I always cook either for myself or others, especially my friends and extended families. This is my lovely habit I’ve grown it up since I was 9. I often looked at my mom when she was cooking and even I prepared my own meal if there’s no food at home. I still remembered when I cooked tempeh sambal, I never looked at the composition. Just feeling and intuition, when I think it’s enough, I’d finished it.

Cooking can release my stress, whatever the results. Many people have tried it and criticisms are always accepted. Sometimes I write the recipes in my note, but without any compositions or grams or kilos and anything else. I don’t really care about it as I’m extravagant in herbs and condiments. Once more, I’m also explorative when cooking. Maybe I modify or change a recipe become hotter or my friends says close to the instant condiment in taste. Recently I’ve been inspired by recipes which replace coconut milk with candle nut (Indonesians call it ‘kemiri’ and ‘miri’ in Javanese- remember, not Japanese! Javanese!), avoid MSG and use more honey for sugar replacement.

Maybe it’s hard to do it, but I’ll try as good as I can. When I substitute coconut milk with candle nut, the taste is exactly same! and at least lower in calories. Vegetarian?? I don’t think so! I realize that I’m not suitable in it. I prefer to be omnivore then, though I gotta change my eating habit along with my aging body hahahahaha. Well, for this challenge, I just share the results of my habit. Along with some recipes. Enjoy it and have a nice weekend!

ImageTRIO STEW (Chicken, Mushroom, Apple)

This is variation of stew, just replace the coconut milk with mashed fried candle nut (no oil allowed).
Ingredients (the composition you can consider it)

400 gr boneless chicken breast. Remove its skin and cut into pieces.
100-200 gr oyster mushroom. Cut it roughly
50 gr champignon mushroom. Chop.
1 big apple or 3 cherry apples. Cut into pieces.

Condiments (mash into one)
Corriander, cinnamon, cumin seeds, nutmeg, star anise, clove
Onion, garlic, ginger, galangal,

lemon grass, lime leaf (just lightly mash)
Non-oil fried mashed candle nut.
Water
Salt, pepper, honey, some soy sauce.

Steps :
1. Heat vegetable oil, fry all the condiments until fragrant.
2. Put the chicken and stir well until its color change.
3. Put also the candle nut. Stir well again till well done.
4. Add also the mushrooms, honey, soy sauce, pepper, and honey. Let it for 1-2 minutes.
5. Pour 1 1/2 glass of water, let it boils and you can add salt.
6. Taste it, if you think it’s not salty, just add more. Or you can add fresh chilli.
7. Add apples, and let it for 1-2 minutes.
8. Serve and enjoy it.

ImageAPPLETO

Combination between apple, tomato and lime juice.
2 tomatoes, cut it into pieces.
1-2 apples, do the same thing.
2-3 tablespoons of lime juice
2 tablespoons of honey.
Mix all into one and keep it into refrigerator, that’s good for snack.

The rests will be coming soon.

Oops! I think, I’m wrong! Hahahaha…but at least I wanna share and follow the challenge. I recently do not want to expose more photos and doing photography as often as before. Why? I just wanna get the passion rather taking picture in all parts. Just a few parts and I hope I can enjoy it.

Have a nice week end for all.

It sounds like you cook just like I do. I love to cook, but as far as I’m concerned recipes are merely guidelines. I rarely measure any of the spices I use, and I tend to simply “wing it,” throwing in whatever I think will add to the flavor.

Right now I need to find something to eat. Those photos loo positively yummy!

    1. Hehehehe, really? I think we’ve got similarities in this case. I also modify the available recipes, though for simplicity.

Do you have your favorite recipes?

      1. Jeff Sinon says:

Honestly, the only time a use a recipe is to get an idea of cooking time and temperature if I’m making something, usually some cut of meat, that I’ve never made before. I can’t really say I have a favorite either.

      2. Hehehehehe…at least we can create it into what we wish.
